1. Update on Wildlife Funding in Climate Legislation
Last week, Senators Lieberman (I-CT) and Warner (R-VA) introduced
America's Climate Security Act (S. 2191). This compromise bill
aims to reduce CO2 emissions to 57% below 1990 levels by 2050.
With respect to wildlife funding, the bill includes a substantial
amount of dedicated funding for the Wildlife Conservation and
Restoration Program to help address climate change impacts through
implementation of the state wildlife action plans. Earlier this
week, Teaming with Wildlife Committee Chair Noel Holcomb (Director, GA
DNR), sent a letter thanking Senators Lieberman and Warner for
including wildlife funding:

3. Organization Feature: Trout Unlimited Councils and Chapters
Trout Unlimited's mission is to conserve, protect and restore North
America's coldwater fisheries and their watersheds. TU
accomplishes this mission on local, state and national levels with an
extensive network of 152,000 volunteers in 450 chapters
nationwide. Driven by a powerful and dedicated grassroots
network, TU is meeting the challenges of coldwater conservation and
protecting our rivers and fisheries for generations to come.
A member of Teaming with Wildlife for more than a decade, Trout
Unlimited has long encouraged its councils and chapters to support
wildlife funding. Already an impressive 11 state councils and
more than 50 local chapters are members of the coalition, but with 450
chapters nationwide there's plenty of room for growth. Trout
Unlimited's national office is reaching out to their council and
chapter leaders encouraging them to join, but it's up to you to follow
up and get them involved in your coalition and wildlife action
plan. You can find contact information for your state's council
and chapters at the following links:
