RE: Teaming with Wildlife Update: $73.8 Million
for State Wildlife
Grants
Congratulations on Securing $73.8 Million for State Wildlife Grants!
Congress has finally passed an "omnibus" appropriations bill that
includes $73.8 million for State Wildlife Grants in Fiscal Year 2008.
The President is expected to sign the bill in the next few days.
In this budget climate, an increase of $6.3 million is a big victory
and it wouldn't have happened without hard work from each and every one
of you.
In the end, Congress had to cut $22 BILLION from their initial
proposals for non-military discretionary spending. If not for
your calls, emails, and personal visits to the Hill, this program would
have certainly been on the chopping block.
For a breakdown of projected state-by-state allocations visit
www.teaming.com/pdf/SWG_Allocations.pdf. Out of the total amount,
the bill sets aside about $4.9 million of the State Wildlife Grants for
a to-be-determined competitive grants program and about $6.2 million
for Tribal Wildlife Grants.
Thanks for your hard work!
